I Am the Light of the World (John 8:12-20)

Keys jingling don’t mean much—unless you’re locked in a prison. A light doesn’t mean much unless you are trapped in darkness and you cannot escape. In the same way, light breaking into darkness means freedom, hope, and life to those trapped in sin. That’s the image Jesus gives us when He declares in John 8:12, “I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Just as the blazing lamps of the Feast of Tabernacles once lit up Jerusalem and the temple, Jesus shines as God’s eternal Light—exposing darkness, revealing the way of salvation, and leading us out of bondage into life. The message is clear: without Him, we remain in a dark spiritual prison; with Him, we walk free following the light of the world through the darkness of this world and having the light of life.
